ROSWELL DAY OF HOPE

Hope Roswell is hosting the 15th annual Roswell Day of Hope (RDOH) on Saturday, Sept 21st at Roswell City Hall. 12-4pm. We hope you will join us. Bring your family and friends to enjoy a day filled with hope. There will be something of interest to everyone!
If you are in need of shoes, medical or dental assistance or you’d like a nice new haircut, you’ll find it at the event. If you don’t need that assistance but you’re wanting to enjoy the outdoors, you’ll be able to sample local coffee flavors while listening to music and having lunch from a food truck. Bring the family to enjoy the kid zone where you’ll find all type of games and entertainment.
What is the 2023 RDOH about?
God called us to love our neighbors and to serve one another. We’ve partnered with Roswell’s local non-profits and businesses to bring you a truly one of a kind event. This years focus is on our teens and you will hear the question being asked…
“Are your kids ok?”
At first glance, you would say Yes, my kids are OK. But the short answer is NO. Since the end of the covid lockdowns, the number of kids and teens who are struggling with anxiety, depression and suicidal thoughts has exploded. At the RDOH, you’ll have a chance to learn about struggles that our teenagers face on a daily basis, but more importantly, what signs to look for and what to do next.
Have you ever said “My kid would NEVER do that!”
Many parents in the Roswell area have made that statement only to wake up and find their teen has made a really bad choice. The growing number of victims in our area is staggering. The biggest contributor to these atrocities is social media. Do you know what to look for on your family’s social media accounts when identifying issues? Without your knowledge, your teens can begin to feel bad about themselves due to bullying, harassment or embarrassment on social media.
Be a part of the solution!
At the Roswell Day of Hope, you will learn helpful tips on recognizing signs and symptoms of mental health issues as well as human trafficking and gang activity. You will walk away with helpful resources.
It’s almost a guarantee that you know someone who is battling one or more of the issues mentioned. Whether it’s in your family or a friend of the family, it’s good to learn what the problems are, how to identify them and what to do next. Come join us to find out more.

Volunteer Registration
VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION
FRIDAY SITE SET UP - not part of shoe set up (FRIDAY, Sept. 20; Drop in 2:00-8:00p.m.)
Volunteers will be needed to assist with setting up tables and chairs and miscellaneous team needs. This is NOT part of the shoe set up.
SHOE TENT SET UP (FRIDAY, Sept 20; 2:00-6:00p.m.)
Volunteers will assist in unboxing and organizing hundreds of pairs of shoes
MENTAL HEALTH
This team will assist the team leaders in various activities that relay the signs/symptoms of mental health issues which can lead to depression, human trafficking and addiction. Spanish translators are in high demand for this area.
“FLOATERS”
This team is vital to the success of the day. You will be placed in areas where we are in need of a last-minute volunteer. Maybe you’ll be serving snacks and water or maybe you’ll be counting guests as they arrive… many opportunities for volunteering.
GROCERIES
Volunteers are needed to bag groceries that are provided by Convoy of Hope. This position will require you to arrive at 10:30. The number of volunteers will determine the amount of time this task will require.
GUEST SERVICES
Guest Service volunteers will be the ‘face’ of the event. Smiling, happy people are preferred for this role. You will be welcoming guests as they arrive and will visit with guests throughout the venue with directional information.
HAIRCUTS
We welcome stylists and greeters to join us as we host the pop-up salon “Belleza con Esperanza”—Beauty with Hope. Bilingual speakers are invaluable so we can serve each Guest with excellence.
HEALTH SERVICES
This team is responsible for a variety of free screenings, educational services and referrals for our guests. Free screenings such as vision, hearing, blood pressure and blood sugar will be offered. Physicians will be available for those why may need them. Our dedicated volunteers have included medical, pregnancy, prenatal care professionals. Kid ZONE
This area leads to all things fun-tastic. Visit different activity stations to explore and learn. There will be games, dancing, treat bags and more! Helpers will serve at activity stations and assist the children in having a day they will remember. Look forward to a day of possibilities.
PRAYER
Our prayer team is vital to the success of the event. You’ll be praying with people from all walks of life. You are required to attend a mandatory training session.
Training dates TBD. After you register here, you will receive an email with the dates to choose from once they are determined.
SHOES
The shoe team is busy all day. Shoe giveaway, both distribution and serving public, shoe security. Clean up and and break down. (The 10-2 shift has been filled. 2-5 is still open.)
TRANSLATORS
Bilingual volunteers are necessary in every area of the event. Volunteers will be assigned areas as they arrive. *PRAYER VOLUNTEERS, please sign up under the prayer category.
MAINTENANCE
The Maintenance team will be responsible for last minute set up and ongoing site cleanup.
DAY OF EVENT SET UP TEAM - SATURDAY, SEPT 21 (8AM)
This team will arrive at 8AM to help set up chairs and small tents. Arrival time is important so the event is ready to open on time. Once everything is set up, you are free to leave the event as you desire. Or you may volunteer in another position.
CLEAN UP TEAM
This team will assist with breaking down the event, final cleanup and packing trucks. It’s extremely helpful to have fresh volunteers who can stay until the job is done. (3:15pm until possibly 6:00pm) Light lifting is required.
RIDE IN UHAUL or follow in your own car
Once the event wraps up, the U-Haul will be packed with tables, chairs and other items that need to be re-distributed to local churches after event.
VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION IS FULL. Please sign up for a different area.
Two or three folks are needed in welcoming and assisting with volunteers as they arrive. You will need to arrive on site by 8:30am but your tasks should be finished before noon. Once you are set up, we ask for your help in popping up the small tents around the venue and setting up chairs.
